Monserrat Mendoza Rojas

Co-Founder & Director of Operations

Monserrat Mendoza is a bilingual nonprofit leader, educator, and community advocate with more than a decade of experience empowering families, expanding access to essential resources, and developing programs that strengthen underserved communities. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Administration, a Master's degree in Education, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

As Co-Founder of Viva Resource, Monserrat is passionate about advancing health equity, educational opportunities, economic empowerment, and community leadership, particularly among rural and historically underserved communities across Colorado. Her work focuses on creating culturally responsive programs that help families overcome barriers, access critical services, and build healthier, more resilient futures.

Monserrat also leads grant writing and funding proposal development for Viva Resource, identifying funding opportunities, developing competitive grant applications, and building relationships with foundations and funding partners. Her work plays a key role in securing financial resources, expanding organizational capacity, and supporting the sustainability and growth of programs that respond to community needs.

Throughout her career, Monserrat has combined her background in education with nonprofit leadership and community engagement. Her experience includes teaching from early childhood through higher education, developing educational initiatives, supporting college and career pathways, and leading programs focused on healthcare access, mental health, food security, energy assistance, and family well-being.

In addition to her work at Viva Resource, Monserrat serves as a Family Services Manager at Aurora Community Connection and as a Community Action Partner with Latino Community Foundation of Colorado. Through these roles, she collaborates with community organizations, strengthens partnerships, and advocates for solutions informed by the voices and lived experiences of families.

Monserrat believes that lasting community change begins with listening, building trust, and empowering individuals to become leaders in their own communities. Her bilingual and culturally responsive approach reflects her commitment to ensuring that every family feels valued, respected, and supported.

Beyond her professional work, Monserrat enjoys spending time with her family, preparing traditional Mexican dishes, and exploring Colorado's natural beauty. Family, education, and community remain the driving forces behind her passion for service and leadership.
